Next, proceed to Surprise Corner to get distant views of Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel and the Bow River. You will then visit the Scottish castle-style Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel and stop here for a self-paid lunch. After lunch, tour Johnston Canyon, one of the three major canyons in the Rocky Mountains, and walk along the trail to the rushing waterfalls. Depart from your hotel in Banff in the morning. Admire Crowfoot Glacier along the route, then arrive at Peyto Lake. This maple-leaf-shaped lake lies like a turquoise ribbon embedded in the valleys of the Rocky Mountains. Afterwards, a buffet lunch at your own expense will be arranged at The Crossing. Continue driving along the scenic Highway 93 Icefields Parkway to the Icefield Centre, where you may board the Ice Explorer (at own expense) to travel across the Athabasca Glacier and witness natural formations built over millions of years. You may also walk along the 280-metre-high Glacier Skywalk (at own expense) for panoramic views of the Sunwapta Valley; when mist and clouds roll in, it feels like wandering above the clouds. Later, head to Athabasca Falls, a waterfall formed by glacial meltwater erosion with a 23-metre drop. Finally, drive to Jasper Town and check into your hotel there.
*Operating hours for Ice Explorer and Glacier Skywalk (at own expense): May 1 – October 12.*
For departures starting October 13, the itinerary will include stops at scenic spots without bookings for Ice Explorer or Glacier Skywalk:
- In good weather: Guests can enjoy an easy 60-minute hike on the hills in front of the glacier for up-close glacier views.
- In poor weather: Follow your guide’s arrangements to view the glacier from a distance, with an additional stop at Waterfowl Lake added to the itinerary.

Depart the hotel early in the morning and head west along Highway 1. The steep and rugged Castle Mountain will come into view. Shortly after, you will arrive at Lake Louise, the most famous lake in the Rocky Mountains. Under the sunshine, mineral-rich lake water shimmers with a captivating sapphire blue, surrounded on three sides by the towering Victoria Glacier. Resembling a jade gem scattered among the mountains, it earns the moniker "Sapphire of the Rockies". Looking back from the lakeshore, Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise stands quietly amid pine forests, welcoming visitors. Afterwards, hike to the top of the trail, where the crystal turquoise waters of seasonal Moraine Lake reflect the jagged Ten Peaks. Standing at the vantage point, you can take in the full panorama of lake and mountain scenery, losing all sense of time. After leaving Moraine Lake, proceed to Lake Louise Village for lunch (at your own expense; Chinese or Western plated meals are available for extra booking). Following lunch, continue westward, passing the Spiral Tunnel built through the blood, sweat and tears of Pacific Railway workers before entering Yoho National Park. You will then reach the secluded Emerald Lake, where red canoes ripple across its tranquil waters. Next, visit Natural Bridge, carved out by the Kicking Horse River over thousands of years. The river channel, ancient pine trees, distant peaks and shallow shoals together form a breathtaking natural painting. Transfer back to Calgary for your flight in the evening.
*Moraine Lake: Seasonal access. Tentative opening period runs from Victoria Day long weekend in May through late September to early October each year, subject to official announcements from Parks Canada.
