Afterwards, head for the Hoodoos perched above the Bow River bank and witness the mighty Bow Falls surging down, featuring striking contrast between dark rocks and foaming white water. Proceed to Surprise Corner to catch distant views of Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel alongside the Bow River. Next, tour the Scottish castle-style Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel and have lunch here at your own expense. After lunch, explore Johnston Canyon, one of the three major canyons in the Canadian Rockies, and follow foot trails up to the rushing waterfalls. (In case of unavoidable circumstances such as park maintenance and site closure, the sightseeing will be switched to Lake Minnewanka and Two Jack Lake.) Check into a hotel in Banff for overnight stay.

# Itinerary:
Banff – Crowfoot Glacier – Bow Lake (20 mins) – Peyto Lake (30 mins) – Icefields Parkway – Lunch (at own expense; buffet lunch available for add-on, 45 mins) – Ice Explorer Snowcoach (at own expense, 90 mins) – Calgary
Depart from Calgary or Banff in the morning and catch distant views of Crowfoot Glacier en route. First stop at Bow Lake, where the silhouette of the Canadian Rockies reflects crisply on the lake surface. Visitors may also drop by the lakeside Num-Ti-Jah Lodge to learn stories of Jimmy Simpson, a legendary Rocky Mountain guide. The tour then moves on to Peyto Lake. In case of force majeure including site maintenance and temporary closure of the scenic spot, the itinerary will be revised to visit Waterfowl Lake instead. This maple-leaf-shaped turquoise lake nestles in the mountain valley of the Rockies like a bright blue sash inlaid amid the terrain. Buffet lunch at your own cost will be arranged at The Crossing, Saskatchewan River Crossing afterward. Continue along the scenic Highway 93, the Icefields Parkway, to reach the Icefield Centre and board the Ice Explorer Snowcoach onto the Athabasca Glacier to witness natural formations forged over millions of years. The tour concludes with a drive back to Calgary.
*The Ice Explorer Snowcoach operates from May 1 to October 12. For departures on or after October 13, visitors will stay at the scenic sites and the snowcoach experience will no longer be available as an add-on option.*
In fine weather: Guests can enjoy an easy one-hour hike up the foothills before the glacier for up-close glacier views (approx. 60 mins).
In poor weather: Per tour guide’s arrangement, guests will view the glacier from a distance, with Waterfowl Lake added as an extra stop on the itinerary. -
Things to Know
- You may check to add a gourmet meal package if needed.
- Subject to the tour departure date, the sequence of the itinerary may be rearranged while maintaining the original service standards. This itinerary connects with a one-day round-trip excursion to the icefield, which requires lengthy arrangement procedures.
- If you need to connect with a flight departing from Calgary on the same evening, please book domestic Canadian flights scheduled to take off after 21:30 and international flights scheduled to take off after 22:30 to avoid disrupting your travel itinerary.
